The secret lies in the island of Velavaru. Turtle Island situated
in the northern corner of South Nilandhe Atoll. Velavaru is about
150km from Male’ International Airport and can be reached in
45 minutes.
Transfer: The seaplane trip to Velavaru, flying Trans Maldivian
Airways will provide you with a Birds’ eye view of the magnificent
reefs of South Male’ Atoll.
The Island: Velavaru, opened in December 1998, is an average sized
island by Maldivian standards and is approximately 500m in length
by 200m wide, is the second resort in the atoll. The buildings on
Velavaru blend in with the thick local vegetation and coconut palms
crating the relaxed environment of the Maldives. Velavaru, Turtle
Island, with its wide sandy beaches bordered by the shimmering turquoise
lagoon is the tropical island.

Velavaru Island Resort has
84 Rooms with complete amenities.Bungalows, Water Bungalows, Suites,
A/C , Hot & Cold Water, Mini Bar, Hair Dryer, IDD in room. Stretched
around the island a few meters away from the beach are 66 semi-detached
and 18 individual bungalows designed to complement the Natures harmony.
The rooms elegantly furnished with twin or double beds and are all
air conditioned with mini bar and IDD telephone services.
The decor inside gives a light and airy atmosphere reflecting the
Maldivian simplicity. The glass paneled windows and the wooden door
opening to the timber deck in front provides you with a view of
the beach, the lagoon beyond and the comforting music from the waves
lapping the beach soothes you to a relaxing state.

The Restaurant and
Bar in Velavaru is designed in the outstanding Maldivian style to
create a relaxed and comforting atmosphere. Restaurant and Bar ideally
located close to each other, a few meters from the beach and the
turquoise lagoon complements the local charm and the warmth of the
people.
RECREATIONAL FACILITIES: Land
Sports: Gymnasium, Table Tennis, Badminton and Beach Volley Ball
Water Sports: Blue Sea Water Sports Centre offers wind surfing,
canoeing, catamaran sailing, ride on a hydro bike and snorkelling.

Evening entertainment include disco, folklore evenings and soft
animation.
DIVING:
A dive centre with
modern equipment and professional instructors provide the opportunity
for you to embark upon the adventure of exploring the scenic coral
formations and the rich marine life that is to be found in the surrounding
waters. Scuba divers would have an excellent time diving these waters
where life remains intact and vastly untouched.
